Course Description
This course provides language support for students enrolled in the Medical Assistant Bridge course. It strengthens the English language skills needed for success in healthcare training by focusing on language access, medical vocabulary, and exam literacy. Students develop reading comprehension, learn to interpret exam questions and clinical documents accurately, and practice workplace writing and professional communication.
Required Externship (160 hours)
Students complete a full-time supervised externship to gain hands-on experience in a healthcare setting.
Prerequisites
• Placement into ESOL Level 5 or higher through the Community ESOL Assessment.
• Completion of required medical documentation:
o Physical Examination Form (within the past 12 months)
o Immunization Form (within the past 6 months)
• High school diploma or GED/HiSET certificate.
• U.S. work authorization.
