This course provides an overview of major theories and empirical research on adolescent development. Emphasis is placed on the biological, cognitive, and socioemotional transitions that occur during adolescence, as well as the influence of culture, gender, genetics, and world events on learning and behavior. The course also examines the roles of peers, family, and life experiences in shaping personality, intelligence, and emotional functioning. Recommended for Secondary Education and Social Science majors.
